Welcome to The Rucksack Club website

Founded in Manchester in 1902, our club brings people together who enjoy climbing, walking, mountaineering, biking and running. Whilst based mainly in Manchester, the North West, the Peak District and Sheffield our 500 members come from across the country; many operate at the leading edge of their chosen pursuit, with others developing their passion. Our Meets take place in 3 or 4 different locations across the UK each week often around the Peak District, but also making the most of our three mountain huts based in central Snowdonia, the southern Lakes and Glencoe. We also travel further afield with regular Alpine trips and a winter sun-rock meet firmly in the meets calendar. Friendship has always been at the heart of our club and our social events cater for all ages. We very much welcome new members whether they be experienced or relative new comers to our core activities so explore our website, get in touch and join us getting out there!
