Depuis quelques ann es maintenant et apr s la publication de nombreux travaux, le syndrome d apn e du sommeil (SAS) appara t bien comme un marqueur de risque cardiovasculaire. Une r cente tude publi e en f vrier dernier (Am J Cardiol. 2015 Feb 15;115(4): 461-5. doi: 10.1016 /j.amjcard.2014.11.027. Epub 2014 Nov 29) montre tr s clairement, dans une population de patients en fibrillation auriculaire, que la pr sence d un SAS est responsable d une augmentation du taux de survenue d accident vasculaire c r braux (AVC). Ce r sultat est obtenu ind pendamment de l ge, du sexe et de l existence ou non de coronaropathie. De plus, une relation entre la valeur de l index d apn e du sommeil (IAH) et la survenue d un AVC est clairement mise en vidence dans cette tude. Les r sultats de cette tude d montrent une fois de plus la n cessit de d pister l existence d un SAS pour nos patients en g n ral, et particuli rement pour nos patients qui sont en fibrillation auriculaire.
